I shared my DIY Art Travel Kit on my social channels. I show you what I put in it and how I use it. Check out the video on Instagram or Facebook.

Summertime means quick, easy, and flexible. Here’s what I used to make my Art Travel Kit for creativity on the go! Use the Artbin Cube to carry your sketchbook, paints, and a couple brushes. Throw in a tiny jar for water and take them to the pool, the beach, your front porch, the dog park, your lunch break, or anywhere!

My favorite thing to do when I’m creating is to “shut the world out”. What I mean by that is to put in my Apple Airpods and listen to an audiobook, some good tunes, or a podcast.
Why use headphones? Well, hubby bought me the Airpods for Mother’s Day and OMG they are THE BOMB! I love them because they’re comfortable, wireless, and they have a microphone. So I use them to make ALL my phone calls now – so much easier! And I love being able to listen to an audiobook or music while I’m making art, doing my grocery shopping (yes, I do this), cleaning, or running errands. I’m obsessed with these little Airpods and use them all the time.

Here are some of my favorite music, podcasts, and audibooks:
Tunes
A few albums I’ve been jamming to this summer are:
When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go by Billie Eilish (so groovy to make art to!)
Songs for the Saints by Kenny Chesney (my fave summer artist, a little beach cowboy vibe)
Begin Again by Norah Jones (she has the BEST chill music ever)
Books
I’ve read some great books recently. Again, I usually do this with audiobooks. Here are my top 5 books for simple pleasure:
- Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
- The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapina
- Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis
- Fear(less) Fridays by Vikki Spencer
- Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
And my top 5 books for going deeper into your creative journey (not audiobooks):
- Acrylic Revolution by Reyner
- Painted Blossoms by Carrie Schmitt
- The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron
- Realistic Abstracts by Kees Van Aalst
- Abstract Art Painting by Stewart
Podcasts
I love me a good podcast! It depends if I’m in the mood to learn or to listen to a great story.
Business/Entrepreneur Podcasts:
- Create Your Laptop Life with Julie Stoian
- On Purpose with Alex Beadon
- RISE Podcast with Rachel Hollis – on iTunes, on Stitcher, on Spotify
